The final average salary (FAS) or also referred to as the final
average compensation (FAC) is the average monthly salary used by
MercedCERA to calculate your retirement benefit.
Tier 1 members have their final average salary calculated using
their highest 26 consecutive pay periods
Tiers 2 through 4 members have their final average salary
calculated using the highest 78 consecutive pay periods
Sick leave sold back during the 25th pay period applies to Tier
1, 2 or 3 members only.
Vacation sold back during the 25th pay period applies to Tier 1,
2 or 3 management members only
Some special pays, for example uniform allowance, bilingual pay,
confidential pay, may be used depending on the member’s Tier and
bargaining unit.
