Eligibility Requirements

Overview

Tier I eligibility requirements for general and probation members hired prior to June 13, 1994 and some A Level Managers. For safety members, those that are hired prior to July 1, 1998.

Tier 2 eligibility requirements for all employees hired on or after June 13, 1994.

Tier 3 eligibility requirements for all employees hired between October 1, 2012 and December 31, 2012 or anyone hired after December 31, 2012 who established reciprocity with another public pension system and their earliest membership date into the reciprocal system was before January 1, 2013.

Tier 4 eligibility requirements for all employees hired on or after January 1, 2013 who did not establish reciprocity with another system or if their membership date with a reciprocal system was on or after January 1, 2013.
