Pursuant to California law, if you are a member of MercedCERA while you are married or in a registered domestic partnership, your retirement benefits may be considered community property and your spouse/partner may be entitled to an interest in the community property portion of your retirement benefit.

There may be a time in your life when you choose to appoint someone else to manage your affairs, including your financial affairs by appointing a Power of Attorney.  Please bring in a copy of your Power of Attorney so that we may have this on file.  Please note that MercedCERA advises our members to seek competent legal counsel for this important document.
